About this Event
Authors are a lot cleverer than those of us who haven't gone and written a whole book, and a lot of the time, they have written multiple books. Very often as a starting point they will undertake an extensive amount of research, which they will artfully thread into the narrative of their works of fiction, non-fiction and poetry, grounding the imagined in reality. In fact, they will sometimes do so much research they inadvertently find themselves becoming an expert in a very specific field.
We are thrilled to be presenting the second event in our ‘Things Authors Know About’ series, where our panel of tip-top authors have just 10 minutes each to present their Mastermind-worthy specialist subjects.
Join as she talks about her research into the rise and fall of smuggling off the Devonshire coast for her new book .
, author of , where she explores the many monsters in young Mary Shelley's life, will be telling us all about a completely unrelated case of Naked Stolen Babies- we're just as intrigued as you are to find what this means.
Poet,, author of the powerful collection of poetry, , will be speaking about the many meanings of blood as seen through the lenses of abjection, ancestry, faith, intimacy, mortality, and stigma.
And author,, will be discussing the explosion of mass witchhunts under King James VI.
You are invited along on to the shop on Thursday 27th November at 7pm for a merry evening of things authors didn’t know they needed to know.
