We are really happy to be hosting talented nu – folk band Thimble to play their first ever live show!!! ‘I saw their first ever show’ is what you can say when they get massive later 🙂This night will be a little window into the new generation of a growing neo-prog folk/chamber doom scene in Brighton.
Supported by their friends Artemisia Nathair…
Welcome to the debut of folk outfit Thimble at the Rose Hill! Their sound is a luscious and breathtaking blend of jazzy psychedelia and eastern folk. Thimble are the unification of musicians from some of Brighton’s most interesting and exciting bands, along with a classically trained flute/saxophone player, they find influence in the farthest corners of life and the beginning of their journey is not one to be missed.
Artemisia Nathair is a Hellenic-Irish blackgaze harpist based in Brighton. Her music is composed from elements of chamber-doom and neofolk to black metal, with dark reveries and piercing screams culminating to a current of noise. With performances known as “the calm before the storm”, Artemisia breaks tradition through the use of playing her harp with violin bows and screaming into its chamber as an extension of the self rather than as a separate instrument.
Originally from the occult town of Hastings, she draws influence from the folklore on both sides of her heritage, with lyrical apocrypha uniting the parellels between Greek mythos and Irish tales. Her time is spent as an active druid, volunteering with local wildlife & animal charities and donating all musical proceeds to benefit the local community.
