Messiaen’s “Turangalîla-Symphonie” is renowned for its intricate, exotic instrumentation, including the unique Ondes Martenot and a virtuosic solo piano part. The ten-movement symphony creates a sonic world drawing on Messiaen’s fascination with bird songs, Hindu rhythms, and Balinese gamelan sounds.
