About this Event

Combatants for Peace is a movement of Israeli ex-soldiers and former Palestinian freedom fighters working for peace and reconciliation. Despite the ongoing violence and division, this group of visionaries refuse to surrender to violence and injustice and in doing so show us that another way is possible.  The film There is Another Way explores their personal and collective struggle. After the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, and the subsequent Israeli military reaction, their mission is under more pressure than ever.  Director Stephen Apkon highlights the courage it takes to choose reconciliation, even in the face of fear and despair. In a world plagued by conflict, the film poses a pressing question: will we choose collective liberation, where the needs, rights and safety of all are prioritized--in which our shared humanity comes first--knowing that no one is free until everyone is free. A facilitated discussion will follow the film (67 minutes long) exploring this question.

Presenter: Bonnie Shulman, Professor Emerita Mathematics
