Theipirai Ashtami Bairavar Pooja is performed on the eighth lunar day (ashtami) of the waning moon (Krishna paksha or theipirai).
Bairavar is a manifestation of Lord Shiva. According to the legend, Lord Brahma, insulted Lord Shiva and Bairava appeared from the angry Shiva's forehead and severed Brahma's head, hence removing his ego and leaving him with only four heads.
By worshipping Lord Shiva in the form of Bairavar, one can get relief from all the sins and sufferings in their life. It is believed that all the wishes of the devotee gets fulfilled by worshipping Bairavar on the day of Bairavar ashtami
