Stephanie Braly-Beutjer will be teaching a dance workshop! This workshop will focus on proper warm-up techniques, how to avoid injuries, tips on picking up choreography quickly, basic to advanced dance steps from jazz and musical theatre dance styles. Participants should wear clothes and shoes conducive to movement, dance shoes, socks, or barefoot are preferred. Written materials will be provided. Ages 8 - 12 meet 9:00 - 10:30 and the teens will meet 10:30 - 12:00.About the Instructor:
Mrs. Braly Beutjer holds a Master of Fine Arts in Ballet and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre, from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor of Science from Alabama A& M. She recently retired after 25 years as the Dance Director at Grissom High School, Artistic Director for Images Dance Ensemble and Co. 2 along with serving as the Director/Choreographer for the Grissom Musical Theatre Program. She served as summer dance faculty at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan for five years, Huntsville Art’s Council’s Arts Ventures, Co-Creator of Dance Connection with Mrs. Mary Halverstadt, Ballet Tennessee’s summer intensive program as faculty and choreographer for ten years. Mrs. Braly-Beutjer has also taught at Texas Christian University, Dallas Baptist University, Centenary College, and Tarrant County Junior College.
Mrs. Braly-Beutjer has been trained in both Cecchetti and Vaganova ballet techniques. Her jazz training came from the incomparable Gus Giordano along with Dian West and Frank Hatchett. Mrs. Braly-Beutjer enjoyed an eclectic professional performance career including ballet and jazz companies, musicals, operas, industrials, movies, commercials, and three seasons of live shows at Six Flags over Texas. Her choreography has been featured across the nation with dance companies and presented in festivals. She has been honored with WINGS awards for Best Lighting and Best Choreography for her original ballet “Dracula-Crossing Over”, Best Choreography for her original jazz work “Flock” She was also honored with a Best Choreography nomination for her original jazz works “Out-Rage-Us”, “Images of Swing” along with the opera, “The Merry Widow” and her original ballet, “Blue Shades”.
Along with teaching at Huntsville Ballet School, Mrs. Braly-Beutjer is a sought-after guest teacher and choreographer. She is an avid supporter of arts education for all. She is known for her spirited classes bringing disciplined technique, musicality, and passion for the art of dance to her students.
