“Long before co-founding that dapper twangpop outfit [The V-Roys], Miller logged many miles on the singer-songwriter trail as kind of a cross between John Prine and Loudon Wainwright III.”- No Depression
“Scott Miller’s songwriting has always balanced wit with woe.” - Relix
Recently inducted to the East Tennessee Writers Hall of Fame, fiery roots-rock singer/songwriter SCOTT MILLER returned to his native Virginia to tend the family farm while continuing to release and perform new music informed by that rural area, history, and Appalachia. The Staunton native first made a name for himself in the 90s as guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter with the superb pop/rock band the V-Roys before establishing himself as a gifted and eclectic solo artist, first with his ad hoc group the Commonwealth and later on his own. “[Miller combines] the emotional honesty and intelligence of a singer/songwriter with the swagger and enthusiasm of a rock & roller… a gifted and eclectic solo artist.” (AllMusic.com). As seen on tour with Patty Griffin, Robbie Fulks, Paul Thorn and American Aquarium.
"Miller is known for his ability to explore the complexities that are often entangled with everyday emotions, sometimes spurred on by the troubles, travails and complexities of today’s world.” - The Daily Times
“Miller’s one of our most vivid, story-telling songwriters” - Country Standard Time
The Yardbirds return to the U.S. with a new show and tour featuring all the hits delivered by the dynamic, legendary five-piece band led by founder Jim McCarty (drums, vocals) with John Idan, Godfrey Townsend, Myke Scavone, and Kenny Aaronson. This blistering ensemble brings with them an exciting multimedia infusion of songs and stories from Jim McCarty that draw back the curtain on the history of one of rock music’s most influential and important groups.
"For Your Love," “Shapes of Things,” “Heart Full of Soul,” "Over Under Sideways Down" and "I'm a Man," are among the Yardbirds’ worldwide smash hits, but their recorded work includes Blues staples such as "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl” and "I Wish You Would” and the Mose Allison tune "I'm Not Talkin’." Jim McCarty and the band will put the spotlight on the creative fire that exploded when Top Topham, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page held the guitar chair and joined with Jim and lead vocalist Keith Relf, bassist Paul-Samwell Smith, rhythm guitarist and bassist Chris Dreja to build an unparalleled legacy of music.
From the early moments of “Smokestack Lightning” to the latter days when Jim McCarty brought “Dazed and Confused” into the band’s repertoire—obviously to the delight of Jimmy Page!-- today’s Yardbirds--Godfrey Townsend on lead guitar (John Entwistle, Happy Together Tour), Kenny Aaronson on bass (Billy Idol, Joan Jett, Rick Derringer), Myke Scavone on Blues harp (Ram Jam, Doughboys), lead singer and guitarist John Idan (30 years with the Yardbirds) and founder, vocalist, songwriter, storyteller and drummer Jim McCarty—bring the intense, authentic sound—and story of the Yardbirds to the stage!
