The Writer's Den Poetry GRAND Slam!

For ten years, The Writer’s Den has been the heartbeat of Richmond’s spoken word scene, and it all leads to this moment. We are back at Studio Two Three on February 1st to crown our 2026 Grand Slam Champion, and the energy is going to be unmatched. We’ve narrowed it down to the top ten finalists from this season, and these prolific poets are returning to the stage to leave it all out there one last time.

If you’ve never been to a poetry slam before, you’re in for a wild ride. This isn't your typical quiet poetry reading—it’s a high-stakes competition where poets perform original work to be scored by a panel of guest judges. We’ll narrow the field through three intense elimination rounds until only one winner remains.

Beyond the competition, this evening serves as a vital fundraiser for The Writer's Den. By purchasing a ticket, you are directly contributing to our mission of providing a platform for local artists and keeping the arts alive in our community. • The Stakes: The winner receives a cash prize, a feature at Busboys and Poets Shirlington (June 22nd, 2026), and will represent Richmond at the Southern Fried Poetry Slam Festival in Orlando, Florida!
• The Vibe: Hosted by Roscoe Burnems with music and vibes provided by DJ Kinfolk.
• Tickets: $20 in advance and more at the door.
