The Portage County Public Library will host a talk on the 50th anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald at 4:00pm on Wednesday, November 12 at the PCPL Stevens Point Branch, 1001 Main St.Steve Ackerman, UW-Madison Emeritus Professor, will speak about the Edmund Fitzgerald, the infamous cargo ship that sank into the frigid water of Lake Superior during a violent storm 50 years ago on Nov. 10, 1975. Ackerman will explore the wreck from perspectives of the weather, the ship itself, and the well-known song about the wreck by Gordon Lightfoot.
