Born in Hong Kong Gu Long was a remarkable martial arts novelist known for his boldness astonishing talent romanticism and later his relocation to Taiwan. He became one of the most dazzling original authors in the history of martial arts films. Alongside Jin Yong and Liang Yusheng he was hailed as one of the three grandmasters of martial arts fiction. Gu Long had a large following and his representative works include "The Peerless Proud Twins" "The Legend of Chu Liuxiang" " Little Li's Flying Dagger" "The Legend of Lu Xiaofeng" and "Heroes Shed No Tears." His writing skillfully incorporated elements of drama mystery poetry and other genres into the traditional martial arts world while infusing it with his unique philosophy of life. Unbound by tradition he ushered in a new era of modern martial arts fiction.
In the 2024 Book Fair the world's first Gu Long martial arts picture book "Heroes Shed No Tears" will be unveiled illustrated by the renowned Hong Kong artist Steven Choi. It adds a new dimension of color to the Chinese martial arts world!
The picture book adaptation of "Heroes Shed No Tears" features over 25 artworks and a re-edited text. Steven's creative work has always emphasized artistic conception. In this project he adopts a more realistic and profound painting style. With bold and vigorous brushstrokes he depicts the inner emotional changes and perspectives of the story's protagonists. Readers will repeatedly peruse the book and feel the romantic and heroic sentiments that penetrate deep into their souls.
As a special highlight the exhibition booth will showcase a gigantic backdrop measuring 6 meters wide and 2.5 meters high depicting one of the artworks from the new book "Hero and Ronin." It's truly eye-catching and fans should not miss it!
