About this Event

The Wonder Room is a magical new playscape co-designed with the children and families at Grangetown Primary School and inspired by the rich industrial heritage and vibrant and varied collections of Tees Valley’s museums.

We’re offering a 30 min slot at 10.00am and 10.30am as a private booking for one family at a time to enjoy a quieter session without other visitors being able to drop-in, so that you can guarantee a calmer atmosphere. These sessions can cater for children up to the age of 10.

A Hullabaloo Host will be on hand at all times to support you in the space.

To make a booking online, please select a ticket. This allows you to bring 1 group of up to 6 people. You will be asked to provide a breakdown of who will be attending.

Ages: All ages but one member of the party must be under 10 years

PLEASE NOTE: entry fees to the museum still apply, tickets booked here simply guarantee your timeslot within The Wonder Room.

More about The Wonder Room

Theatre Hullabaloo artists, Lucy Cassidy and Ella Deacy, have been collaborating with Reception children and their families at Grangetown Primary School to help shape the design of The Wonder Room.

Together they played with silly glasses, crawled through tunnels, made rainbows and invented some very unusual creatures. This playful process, with resources and ideas inspired by some of the weirder and more wonderful elements of the museum collections, helped the design team, Roma Patel and Rachel Clementine of Makers of Imaginary Worlds, to create a fantastical playscape for children and their grown-ups to investigate together.

The Wonder Room is a space where curiosity leads the way, and play becomes a form of storytelling, invention, and exploration.
