The Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia (CHSV) and the Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation present “The Wolf Creek Cherokee Tribe in Native American Culture” at the Magnolia Grange House Museum, 10020 Iron Bridge Road on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at noon.Chief Terry Price and his wife, Annette, with the Wolf Creek Cherokee Tribe of Virginia will share artifacts from their culture, discuss Virginia Cherokee people and present details on recent archaeological discoveries made at their site in Varina.
Members of the Wolf Creek Cherokee Tribe of Virginia are the Cherokee people of the Commonwealth of Virginia who have always occupied the state of Virginia and whose tribal members are dedicated to maintaining their Cherokee culture and heritage through ongoing education, preservation, and community outreach. This is done by participating in cultural events that educate and support good will such as pow wows, school programs, cultural and musical performances, and performances at military institutes.
The Wolf Creek Cherokee Tribe of Virginia maintains their own museum which contains Native American tools, weapons, clothing, displays and material evidence recovered from their archaeological site. The Tribe offers preservation of artifacts as well as artwork, research in genealogy, and educational classes.
