The Play:
The Wizards by Ricardo Gamboa, and directed by Katrina Dion, follows Amado and Sam, a Brown and Black genderqueer couple that move back to Amado’s hometown of Chicago after surviving a hate crime in New York the day after the 2016 presidential election. In their new apartment in the city’s gentrifying Pilsen neighborhood, the two find a Ouija board that puts them in touch the ghost of four boys who were members of The Wizards, a Mexican-American Motown cover band on the Southside during the 70s. The Wizards is a supernatural thriller about the histories and people that haunt us.
The Wizards is brought to you by Concrete Content in conjunction with APO Cultural Center, Destinos, Chicago Latino Theater Alliance, National Museum of Mexican Art and Gertie.

The Production Team:
The Wizards features direction by Katrina Dion, is stage managed by Anastar Alvarez, scenic design by Eleanor Kahn, lighting design by Conchita Avitia, costume design by Sal Yvat, sound design by Bran Moorhead, props design by Ellie Terrell, and intimacy and violence design by Greg Geffrard. Additional production support in assistant stage management from Gina Montalvo, assistant direction by Sebastian Olayo.

Ticket Details:
Every night there are 45 pre-sale tickets available through Eventbrite, which range from $20-$60 dollars. The proceeds go directly towards paying our actors and production team. Additionally, there will be ten walk-up tickets available each night, that will be pay-what-you-can.
COVID-19
Our actors will be unmasked during the performance, and we are requiring audience members to wear masks to each performance
The Wizards is recommended for audiences 13 & up, and deals with content including but not limited to M**der, racial slurs, sexual intimacy and ghosts.
Note on Accessibility:
APO is not wheelchair accessible. When coming to the space, attendees should expect to go up one small step to get in to the building, and go down one flight of stairs to enter the theatre.
Sudden noises and light flashes will be used in the production.
The play is primarily in English, with some lines in Spanish.
