We’re welcoming Calgary’s Cassafran to play her very first ever Nelson set, while Pete Shedz will also be teeing up for his first set inside the Royal. Returning host Dubconscious will open the night with the finest in reggae, dub and dancehall selections before things lift off with the sounds of UK Garage, Breaks, 2-Step, Grime & various forms of Bass Music. Based out of Calgary, AB, CassaFRAN is a dynamic interdisciplinary creative who thrives in realms of sensory & spatial design, poetry, herbalism, free skiing, and DJing. With a diverse range of interests, she weaves her varied passions into a unique tapestry of creativity that sets her apart as an artist.
Immersed in Western Canada's vibrant underground electronic scene for over a decade, Cassafran has solidified her position within the community. Over the past six years, she has been actively contributing her signature sounds to the Calgary and western Canada scene, with her DJ career nurtured and propelled by collectives such as ClubHaus, Hifi Club, sub chakra, Minimal Skids, Cutting Shapes, silent tension, and Window Kids. She has brought her variety to rooms throughout her city, to festivals including Timelapse and neon jungle, and to global radio streams throughout the country.
Cassafran’s performances are a regular highlight in Calgary and the surrounding areas, captivating audiences with her seamless fusion of deep house, techno, electro, and dubs, infused with elements of jazz, acid, breaks, and UK garage. Each set is meticulously curated to suit the unique context of her performances.
