About this Event
The Event:
Come shake off the stress and weight of the week with us at The Wiggle Room – judgement free movement workshops that get you out of your head, into your body, and shaking out your stress with joy and laughter with other Black and brown womxn.
As we shake off the winter and prepare for spring, April's movement theme is “Release the Cheeks” with Saharla Vetsch – multidisciplinary artist, performer, and instructor. This workshop is all about releasing tension and stress by connecting our mind to our hips through movement. Saharla will guide us through a series of stretches, movements, and grooves before we shake it out on the floor. In The Wiggle Room, we intentionally call on our flexibility and grace for some of the things we’re individually navigating so that we can leave feeling lighter and standing in our power.
And after we wiggle – let’s grab some giggle juice (aka cocktail/mocktail). Join us for a drink at a nearby bar to cool down, connect, and kick into the weekend.
Meet Saharla:
Saharla Vetsch (she/her) is a Somali American multidisciplinary artist rooted in the Bay Area. Saharla earned a degree in Performing Arts and Social Justice with a concentration on dance from the University of San Francisco. Her artistic and academic journey has been marked by a profound commitment to the transformative power of movement. Saharla’s teaching and performances encourage and celebrate the intersecting identities that make up who we are and inform how we all engage with the world and each other. She does this in the spaces of queer nightlife entertainment, early childhood dance education, and through collaborative dance performances. Saharla strives to be a beacon of self-expression, harnessing the liberating power of dance to ignite a sense of freedom through community.
