Roots rock, rhythm and bluesThe Whirling Eddys, a well-known quartet from Dunedin, have been performing since 1994 with the current line-up playing together since 2005. They specialise in classic blues, soul, rock’n’roll and popular song from the fifties through to the seventies, together with their crafted originals. In other words, eclectic. They all sing, and on occasion, holler. On the occasion of their first ever performance at the Dunedin Folk Club they will be pairing back their sound, as they always have done in the practice room, and will take you on a journey of their musical roots. This is bound to be a fascinating exploration of how this unique group functions, and how rhythm, groove and improvisation combine to create the Eddys characteristic sound.
The Whirling Eddys are: Terry Ebeling on guitar, harmonica and vocals. John Dodd on bass and vocals. Doug Wright plays keyboards, and vocals. Steve Hudson on drums and vocals.
