About this Event
Step back in time and celebrate America's first national holiday—Thanksgiving— Founding Family style! In this immersive, hands-on cocktail class, you'll explore the spirited side of history through George Washington's celebrated Mount Vernon rye whiskey distillery and Martha Washington's beloved cherry bounce recipe.
Discover how George turned his post-presidential years into one of the most successful distilling ventures of the 18th century, crafting rye whiskey. Delve into Martha’s signature cherry-infused cordial—equal parts hospitality and heritage—that became a staple of Mount Vernon entertaining.
At your bartending station, you’ll shake, stir, and sip your way through the rich stories behind three historic drinks. Guided by Hogwash Whiskey Den's expert mixologists, Simon Moorby and Erin Fasbender, and a dash of history (okay, a large dash!) from Raising the Bar's historian Renée Cebula, you’ll recreate cocktails inspired by the Washingtons’ table and the nation’s earliest drinking traditions.
Join us for a toast to tradition, craftsmanship, and the spirited legacy that helped shape America’s first Thanksgiving and more!
Our cocktail classes are hands-on, featuring bartending stations for each pair of guests. You'll grab onto a shaker, mixing glass, and bar spoon while learning mixology techniques. We'll explain the importance of each method as we guide you through the steps. Our team arrives early to press fresh juices, make syrups from scratch, and prepare all the ingredients needed for class drinks.
Tickets are $84 per person. Your ticket includes:
- Three crafted drinks
- Mixology and history lessons
- Appetizers
- A cocktail recipe booklet
