Ballroom-kulturen föddes i Harlem, New York, på 60-talet av svarta och latinamerikanska transkvinnor och dragartister. Det skapades som en trygg plats fri från den rasism och diskriminering som de mött inom de vita skönhetstävlingarna. Ballroom har sedan dess vuxit till en global rörelse fylld av kreativitet, gemenskap, uttryck och ren glädje.
Ballroom är för alla som vill utforska sitt uttryck, skapa nya vänskaper och känna sig fria att glänsa. Scenen välkomnar alla oavsett etnicitet, könsidentitet, kropp, sexualitet eller status och noll tolerans råder mot rasism, homofobi, transfobi, ableism, body shaming eller någon annan form av diskriminering.

As the sun sets on Virgo season and summer fades away, let’s celebrate the traits that Virgos best represents: groundedness, precision and elegance. Mother Earth is ready for a new cycle of life and she is calling us to step into what’s next - today we plant new seeds and set intentions for what will bloom moving forward.
Bring it in an effect in earthy tones. Think rich greens, shades of brown, pale or warm yellows or even midnight blue. Nature’s palette sets the tone and you bring it to life.

What is ballroom? The underground ballroom scene has its roots as far back as to the 1960s in Harlem, New York. It was created by black and latin trans women and drags, as a new safe space due to racism they faced within the white pageant scene.
Ballroom is a safe space for individuals to explore their creativity, create friendships, make statements and have fun. Ballroom welcomes everyone and respects everyone, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, body, sex or status. Any types of racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, body shaming or any types of discrimination will not be accepted within the Ballroom scene.
If you are not a person of color and/or person of queer experience, we would like to reinstate that you are a guest within the ballroom community and should follow rules as everyone else. Please be mindful of the space you take as a guest, and you will be welcomed with open arms.
