Happy Holidays!
Please join us for an open house at the Village on December 19th from 2-5pm! The Village is StandUp for Kids’ Silicon valley outreach center, located in San Jose.
StandUp for Kids is a national non-profit organization established in 1990 and dedicated to ending the cycle of youth homelessness in communities like ours. SUFK offers assistance to at-risk youth by transitioning them from crisis to connections and offering youth a sense of safety, hope, and belonging through housing support, mentoring drop-in centers, and street outreach. The Village offers a safe space for homeless youth to eat a hot meal, take a shower, access the internet, or just hang out for a few hours for four days of the week. The Village is entirely volunteer operated and depends on the San Jose community to keep these resources available to homeless youth in the community. While The Village has operated in San Jose since 2014, we recently relocated in September of 2021 which inspired this open house. We will offer a general tour of the outreach center while describing our personal experiences and insight we have gained from volunteering. We will have food, beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and holding a free raffle.
Goal of Event: Our goal is to raise awareness for homeless youth in the bay area and to help the Village by generating donations, changing negative stereotypes surrounding homelessness, and bringing in more volunteers! We hope you will join us to tour the Village center and to understand what we do for homeless youth. Please feel free to bring canned foods and non perishables or any other items from the Village’s wish list.
Bring: You do not need to bring anything, but you can always access our holiday wish list and bring any items that are listed. The wish list will be linked directly below. All are welcome here, so bring along any family or friends as well.
