Interested in how Rehoboth residents contributed to the Revolutionary War?
Join the Rehoboth Antiquarian Society for a tour of the Village Cemetery followed by drinks and nibbles at the Carpenter Museum. The tour will be led by the Rehoboth Cemetery Commission’s own Beverly Baker and will have a focus on Revolutionary War Veterans!
The Yellow Meeting House was erected in 1773 and the Village Cemetery followed shortly after. In comemeration of the 250th aniversory of the Revolutionary War this tour will focus on the connections that the cemetary has with the war, while delving into the history of the cemetery itself. In this cemetery alone there are 50 known veterans from the Rev War. It is the final resting place of soldiers, captains, a doctor, and the owner of the longest epitaph in the country.
This tour will include walking, around 90 minutes, with a bit of an incline so visitors should wear comfortable shoes and be able to stand and walk for that amount of time comfortably.
Parking is available at the cemetary lot. The Carpenter Museum is a few minutes walk away and it also has a lot available.
