Max 20 People - Ticket only Event
Have you heard the Legends of Upper Brighton in Wallasey?
Situated above New Brighton, this affluent area was home to the builders of the Seaside Resort. The area contained Large Mansions, Hotels, Public Houses and much more that has been swallowed up by Post War 20th Century developments. But the hidden history of the area tells a far greater story and on our tours we will introduce you to the Local Myths and Legends of Upper Brighton.
Upper Brighton is Haunted by Several Ghosts. Discover the Old Streets and Cobbles that contained many of the Local Inn’s where ghostly whispers have been heard, hear of the Customs Man, a ghostly shape seen on Albion Street with his lamp on foggy nights.
Visit the site of ghostly encounters and so much more... Grumpy Albert of The Clarence, The Albion Hotel Haunting, The Smugglers of St Peter’s Hidden Tunnels, Hear of Tom Thumb and Jenny Lind who stayed in Local Inn’s when performing in Liverpool. (Names you will know from The Greatest Showman)Hear about the Victorian Gentleman who walks the Cobbles of the old Quarry.
The Clarence was built in 1843 on a site of an ancient cottage. It had a varied past, being a local slaughterhouse for the first 20 years. Hooks and rails were in the cellar. In 1864 Mary Fielding became the first licensee of the new converted pub. In 1962 the Clarence was refurbished at the cost of £8,027. Out went the green-painted walls and stone floors, replaced with effective wooden paneling and rafters which transformed the pub.
This is a 90 Minute Walking Tour with many Ghost Tales and Local Legends to be told.
