Versipel New Music's season continues with a program of works by some of today's leading voices in contemporary music. These works range from the simple to the sublime. Caroline Shaw's "Thousandth Orange" is built on a simple four-chord progression that slowly reveals deeper layers upon repetition. Andrew Norman's Light Screens is inspired by light-filled patterns of Frank Lloyd Wright’s art glass windows, which he termed “light screens.” Mary Kouyoumdjian's “A Boy and a Makeshift Toy” is inspired by a portrait of a young boy playing in an abandoned train station, full of Albanian refugees, waiting to be taken to another camp. Yotam Haber's "Bremner" is an intensely brooding work that was commission by the "Composing in the Wilderness" program. "For Anton Vishio" by Tyshawn Sorey is a boldly ethereal and contemplative work and was composed for composer and theorist Anton Vishio.Tickets are $20/$10/$0 (discounts for students & seniors, and hardship consideration)
