About Castello di Verrazzano
The 230-hectare estate, which has remained unchanged within its borders for over 1000 years, has 52 hectares of vineyard at an altitude of between 260 and 420 meters above sea level, in a rocky terrain rich in lime. The vineyards are periodically renewed according to a program that allows to keep the average age of the plants around 12 years.
The grapes used are mostly red berries, among which Sangiovese is the first, accompanied by other varieties including Merlot, Canaiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Colorino and, only in a small percentage, with white berries such as Trebbiano Toscano, Traminer and Malvasia Long of Chianti.
The harvest is done exclusively by hand through a careful selection of grapes.
