Springfield Chamber Chorus is proud to invite you all to our 2025 Winter Concerts, happening on Saturday, December 13th at 7:30pm, and Sunday, December 14th at 3:30pm!“The Veil of Hope” is a Christmas concert that invites audiences to look beyond the familiar glow of the season and explore the deeper, often hidden layers of hope. Through a blend of stirring music, reflective narration, and evocative imagery, the program challenges traditional notions of hope as simple optimism, revealing instead its complexity, born of struggle, waiting, and faith. This immersive experience encourages listeners not only to witness hope’s light but to recognize its presence even when veiled by doubt or darkness, offering a profound and transformative encounter with the heart of the Christmas story. The concert weaves together voices ancient and modern, featuring works by Poulenc, Palestrina, Gallus, and Bob Chilcott, alongside new compositions that set the poetry of Alfred Lord Tennyson (Ring Out! Wild Bells), Rowan Williams (Advent Calendar), and a newly composed song cycle by celebrated composer Steven Bernstein (The Peace-Giver).
The Saturday night concert begins at 7:30pm and will take place at Stone Chapel on Drury University's campus. The Sunday afternoon concert is at 3:30pm and will be held at University Heights Baptist Church. Sunday's concert will also feature singers from the Willard Middle School Choir!
