Blackthorn Capital Partners (BCP) is a real estate investment and development company focused on vibrant downtown communities in the Mid-Atlantic region that offer a live-work-play environment. BCP seeks to develop mixed-use properties that offer a destination retail component with market-rate apartment units in a walkable neighborhood. The Updegraff was originally constructed in 1882 for the manufacturing and sale of hats and gloves. BCP acquired the vacant building to renovate the building and bring it to activate use.
Today, situated along the Hagerstown Cultural Trail at Hatter's Plaza, the Updegraff building will be home to 21 apartments on the upper floors with ground floor retail.
BCP started the project in 2020 with construction starting in 2022. BCP was encouraged by the support of the City in renovating the historic building and the ability to leverage economic drivers for continued growth.
