About this Event

The Untold Orchestra

The Untold Orchestra is a Manchester based organisation made up of creative freelancers across Manchester. They are set on changing the orchestral world, making it a more accessible art form for audiences and communities across the city. As well as performing regularly in venues across the city their recent projects include: the NIA CHOIR (a womxn’s soul and blues community choir at the NIAMOS, Hulme), working with Bill Laurance (Snarky Puppy) on multiple live and recording based projects and are currently developing a multi art form piece exploring the reality of black artists in Manchester where they are collaborating with notable Manchester artists including Shirley May, Jenna G, DJ Paulette and Cookie Love.

Cheddar Gorgeous

Cheddar Gorgeous (A.K.A Dr Michael Atkins), is a Drag performer, visual artist and academic. They are the founding members of Manchester drag collective The Family Gorgeous from Channel 4’s Drag SOS and in addition to performing in clubs, bars and cabarets across the globe have pushed drag into new territories through collaborations with The Manchester Art Gallery, The Manchester Museum, and other cultural institutions. Their work seeks to expand upon drags potential as a a more open form of queer story telling that may be applied as activism, research methodology, community building and self exploration. Cheddar believes that drag has potential beyond a form of entertainment, and is a shifting space in which participants may explore multiple identities, feelings and experiences.

Lavender Rodriguez

Manchester based, Hampshire grown Lavender Rodriguez explores sounds between alternative/electronic soul to afrobeat by night, whilst working as a classical composer by day. Their music celebrates the intersectionality of queerness, mixed race and life experience and is recently returning to the Manchester scene.
