September is International Underground Railroad Month. Learn about the Underground Railroad and its connection to Harford County, the Susquehanna River, and the Chesapeake Bay through our exhibit, Other Voices of Freedom. This class will include a lesson, exhibit tour, and story reading from a Caldecott Honor Book. After the class, explore the Maritime Museum. This learning experience will be best received by 5 - 10 year old children. Parents must accompany children. Please be advised that though we strive to present age appropriate introductory material in this class, by nature this is a difficult topic which contains references to slavery, enslaved peoples, and some of the struggles that they endured during their escapes to freedom.
Pre-registration is required - classes fill up quickly. Though pre-payment is not required, we encourage you do to so to guarantee a spot in the class. The cost is $5 per person. Admission to the Maritime Museum is FREE with the purchase of the class.
