On March 22nd we at the Racism Free City initiative and our collaboration partners once again mark the annual UN International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 (12am – 2pm): We will take to the streets and start the day with a demonstration against the far right, the rise of fascism, and for an end to all discrimination, be it Racism, Islamophobia, Antisemitism, Homo/Transphobia, you name it!

The demonstration will start at Albani Torv (in front of Føtex) and end at the labour union 3F’s headquarters in Odense (Skibhusvej 52B).

𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬 (2pm – 5pm): Meet and greet with anti-racist organisations, political parties, NGO’s and more, who’ll each be represented with a stall.

Listen to the talks about labour rights and the labour unions roles in the fight for equal rights for everyone, regardless of religion, skin-color, gender, or sexual orientation.

3F is providing free sandwiches, coffee and tea, for all participants.

𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘 𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗖 – 𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗠 (7pm – 12pm): Grab a friend, down a beer (or soda), come join us, and rock out to some awesome music!

This year’s concerts will have a focus on anti-racist punk music, while to spice it up, genres such as Hip Hop, Pop and Metal, will likewise be represented.

The entrance price is donation based, ranging from 40-150kr.

The international day was started in memory of the Sharpeville Massacre in South Africa on 21 March 1960.
ㅤ
However, 60-years later we are once again witnessing the rise of the far right and fascism, the EU and US are no exceptions to this.
ㅤ
In addition, the year 2024 is likewise the 80-year mark since the Auschwitz concentration camp was liberated and the horrors of the Nazi regime were exposed. Back then, the world agreed – never again!
ㅤ
Yet, to this day the world leaders are still hell bent on ignoring the humanitarian catastrophes, the suffering and the ongoing mass killings and genocides. We therefore call for an end for all the killings, be it in Sudan, Yemen, Palestine, Western Sahara, Rojava in Syria, or anywhere else –never again, means never again!

While political leaders have made racism and discrimination mainstream everywhere in the world, the number of displaced people and refugees has long since passed 100 million. People are fleeing war, oppression, and climate chaos, while legal escape routes are closing.
ㅤ
This racism is evident in the EU’s deadly pushbacks, increased border militarization, and utter disregard for human life. While In Denmark, refugees and asylum seekers face temporary residencies, forced deportations by armed police, and inhumane treatment inside the deportation camps, while migrant workers are treated harshly and face the reality of daily racism in schools, workplaces, and on the streets.

Racism divides us! Racism makes us fear each other! Racism kills!

There are times in history when we must stand up, and the situation is as serious and urgent, as it is deadly – The regin of racism must be stopped!
ㅤ
Join us on the 22nd of March and take a stand against discrimination, racism, and fascism - we are the many, and we can win.
