The Rockport Public Library will host the second talk in their fall series with the Appalachian Mountain Club, Maine Chapter, on Wednesday, October 23, at 6 p.m. Amy Niemczura-Sowa will present a narrated slideshow entitled “The Trail Less Trampled: Hiking All of the Maine Mountain Guide.”Niemczura-Sowa is a lifelong Mainer and a lifelong hiker. She is the first person to complete all the trails, spurs, and mentioned distances in the 12th edition of the Maine Mountain Guide. After briefly discussing her process, she will share photos and stories of “less-trampled” trails featured in the book. She hopes to encourage others to seek new places and experiences in the state.
Niemczura-Sowa lives in Unity with her husband and six-year-old son. She documents her adventures in a blog that can be read online at mainethewaylifeturnedout.wordpress.com.
Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), serving the regions of New England and Mid Atlantic states, has been in existence since 1876 and is the nation’s longest serving conservation and recreation organization. AMC is active in conservation, year round outdoor activities, and outdoor leadership training.
