About this Event
Gary Stevenson launches The Trading Game, his sensational account of the ecstatic highs and terrifying lows of life as a trader, and his journey to leaving the financial world behind, in a conversation at Charing Cross Road with Owen Jones.
Stevenson was the youngest trader in the whole city. Soon he was dealing in nearly a trillion dollars a day. Having left his trading career behind and campaigning for equality – The Trading Game is an outrageous and revelatory journey into the dark heart of the financial world.
Gary Stevenson, since leaving the bank, has studied for an MPhil at Oxford, worked with economic think-tanks and founded a YouTube channel, GarysEconomics, teaching people about real-world economics. He regularly appears on television and radio and has written for the Guardian and OpenDemocracy, among others.
Stevenson will be in conversation with Owen Jones, the author of Chavs and The Establishment: and How They Get Away With It. He is a columnist for the Guardian and a frequent broadcaster.
This event will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing. Doors open from 6:45pm.
