The Three Blind Mice are an Italian swamp-rock band formed in 2010 in Milano. In the same year they released their first self-titled EP and signed with the Berlin based label Pale Musik.
Berlin became the second home for singer/guitarist Manuele Scalia.
There he established the first relationships with part of West-Berlin’s alternative music scene from the ’80s. In particular with members of Einstürzende Neubauten, Die Haut, Crime + The City Solution, Jingo de Lunch, Swans.
The band played in the main clubs in Berlin. They’ve also been the opening act for Lydia Lunch and Gallon Drunk in Germany and Italy.
The Three Blind Mice recorded two albums at the Funkhaus, the former GDR broadcasting studios, in Berlin.
Early Morning Scum (2012) recorded by Tom Schwoll (Jingo de Lunch/Die Skeptiker) featuring the Australian drummer and percussionist Chris Hughes (Mick Harvey/These Immortal Souls/Hugo Race)
The Chosen One (2016) recorded by Tom Schwoll and produced by Kristof Hahn (Swans).
During this time they toured the U.K., France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Rep., Hungary, Slovenia, Italy.
Long postponed due to the C-19 situation, recording for the new album started in July 2021 in Milano. In the same year, in December, they signed with Swedish label Beluga Records.
Day's Getting Dark is released on vinyl on January 2023.
The sound of Three Blind Mice has often been described as cinematic, with references to Morricone's Spaghetti Westerns, David Lynch's alienating atmospheres, and Quentin Tarantino's pulp.
Post-punk, garage, Tex-Mex, surf music, alt-country merge and outline the double soul of the band: the cold and industrial Middle-European one, and the burning and desert American one.
