https://creativealliance.org/event/the-third-annual-irish-tenor-banjo-summit/Hello fellow Irish tenor banjo enthusiasts! You are cordially invited to the third annual tenor banjo gathering in beautiful banjo-friendly Baltimore! This year we'll be joined by a four fantastic instructors: Seamus Egan, Jeanne Chirdon-Herbas, Brendan Coyne, and Simon Lace! In addition to the fourth instructor, which will keep banjo classes small, we'll also be adding MORE to what we offered last year, including NON-BANJO (wow) classes with some of our guest musicians, more vendors on Saturday, and Sunday brunch, talks, and sessions in the beautiful Green Room in Hampden just blocks from the Baltimore Irish Music School!
HOW IT WILL GO DOWN
FRIDAY, 11/15: We'll be having a welcome concert at the Creative Alliance in Patterson Park featuring the Seamus Egan Project, banjo summit instructors, and local Irish music masters! It'll be open to the general public and will be a performance to remember, with late night sessions to follow! Anyone who loves Irish traditional music won't want to miss it!
SATURDAY, 11/16: we'll have banjo workshops during the day with our four instructors - attendees will be divided into four groups, and each group will rotate from teacher to teacher, so that everyone will get a total of four workshops, one with each teacher! If four is too much for you, there will also be sessions throughout the day, and vendors in the main room you can check out, so feel free to take it at your own pace!
NEW THIS YEAR: We will also be offering four NON-BANJO (wow) classes with some of our visiting musicians during the four banjo class slots - these can be taken instead of or in addition to the banjo classes! They are:
Bodhran with Anna Colliton
BC Button Accordion with Damien Connolly
Guitar with Kyle Sanna
Fiddle with Jenna Moynihan
In the evening we'll have the Baltimore Ceili to get some movement in after a day of LEARNING! Come and dance the night away with us, meet your fellow banjo summit attendees, and take advantage of Baltimore's great Irish music and dance community! We'll also be having a big session afterwards, so make sure to bring any instruments you want to play!
SUNDAY, 11/17: On Sunday we'll be at the beautiful Green Room in Hampden! We'll be having an Irish breakfast and talks with Ethnomusicologist Dan Neely and tenor banjo tech Dan Shingler, as well as an instructor Q&A, then we'll end the whole thing with a big auld session.
A full schedule will be available to view soon!
