Learn all the basics of oil painting: washes, underpainting, color theory, value, mediums, glazing and finishing techniques. Through several demos throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to apply these lessons to projects they make during class. Several historical techniques, such as Dead Layer painting, will be taught in mini lectures with slides for illustration of concepts. The techniques and skills learned throughout the class will be implemented in the culminating project, a final piece worked on in and out of class. Students will leave excited and confident in continuing their practice as oil painters. ***Students will be sent a supply list before class start with estimated material costs of $100-150 or less if you have supplies on hand.***
