About this Event
From political non-fiction, to YA romance, to spiritual awakenings by OG writers and brilliant newcomers — The Thawra Book Club has been delving into a wide range of interesting topics that touch on the way we as ethnic minorities navigate our places in society.
This month, we'll be reading Janika Oza's A History of Burning. This novel is an unforgettable tour de force, an intimate family saga of complicity and resistance, about the stories we share, the ones that remain unspoken, and the eternal search for home.
Our in-person book club will be held on Tuesday 22nd August at Penguin Random House HQ, One Embassy Gardens, 8 Viaduct Gardens, London, SW11 7BW, expect lots of great discussion, good vibes and some bookish goodies! We want this space to be a complete free, creative space for all to feel comfortable in voicing their thoughts and opinions — no matter how relevant you think it is and how much of the book you've read. Feel free to bring your physical/digital copy along with you!
Please follow us across social media @thawramag to stay updated. To be added to The Thawra Book Club WhatsApp group chat, please remember to provide your mobile number.
