About this Event
Premiering on the evening will be the 35-minute film "The Tasmanian Big Tree Hunters" which follows five young Tasmanians on their big tree discoveries. We learn about the environmental challenges big trees face in Tasmania, but also the abundant economic and social opportunities forests provide when left standing. Five very personal stories from people who are out there scrub-bashing their way through uncharted forests, this film will have something for everyone.
Following the film premiere will be a very special presentation by big tree legend Brett Mifsud. Brett is the leading authority of big tree hunting in Tasmania and his presentation will detail his thirty years of experience discovering big trees in Tasmania.
In addition to Bretts Keynote will be a presentation from the film creator, Steve Pearce. Steve is a tree climber, big tree advocate and director of The Tree Projects.
The audience will be able to submit their questions to a panel of big tree experts. The panel will consist of tourism operators, forest ecologists, passionate explorers and will share their experience and hopes for the future of big trees in Tasmania.
Plan to arrive early to get refreshments and find your seats ready for a 6 pm start.
