Peter Phillips perusti The Tallis Scholarsin vuonna 1973. Viidessäkymmenessä vuodessa siitä on kasvanut johtava varhaista pyhää musiikkia esittävä vokaalimusiikin kokoonpano. The Tallis Scholars ei ole kuitenkaan jäykän puhdasoppinen. Juhlakonsertin ohjelmistossa renessanssisäveltäjä Thomas Tallisin teoksen rinnalla soivat luontevasti niin Arvo Pärtin sävellykset kuin Nico Muhlyn The Tallis Scholarsille säveltämä Rough Notes.

Peter Phillips grundade The Tallis Scholars 1973. Under de gångna femtio åren har gruppen utvecklats till en ledande vokalensemble som framför tidig sakral musik.
The Tallis Scholars är ändå ingen strikt renlärig ensemble. Jubileumskonsertens program omfattar såväl renässanskompositören Thomas Tallis verk som Arvo Pärts kompositioner och Nico Muhlys verk Rough Notes, som är komponerat uttryckligen för The Tallis Scholars.

The Tallis Scholars were founded by Peter Phillips in 1973. In fifty years, they have grown into a leading ensemble in early sacred vocal music.
The Tallis Scholars are not inflexibly orthodox. The festival concert’s programme includes a work from renaissance composer Thomas Tallis as well as Arvo Pärt and Rough Notes, a work composed for The Tallis Scholars by Nico Muhly.
