Miami Masters Swim Club (QMM) is again hosting its annual fundraising challenge THE SWIM FOR CLAIRE
The event raises lifesaving research funds for Rare Ovarian Cancer Incorporated (ROC Inc), a registered not-for-profit organisation. ROC Inc raises money to fund research at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research at Monash University in Melbourne.
Claire is our QMM Minutes Secretary, long time QMM member, former MSQ Treasurer, former master’s world record holder (800 free 25-29 short course), and much-loved mother of two daughters. She was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer in 2012.
There is no known treatment for rare ovarian cancers. It's all guess work! Why? Because there is very little research into rare ovarian cancer. Federal governments and large research bodies fund research into well-known cancers such as breast and prostate cancer. Not rare cancers suffered by few! We are helping ROC Inc change that by raising research funds ourselves.
Help us change lives of females of all ages who get hit by this killer cancer! A HUGE CHALLENGE for the females and their families. The youngest in Australia diagnosed at 11 months old.
