Now in its eighth year, our Contemporary Craft Show at the Pavilion will have around fifty exhibitors showing a diversity of work, including several new and recent members of the Guild. Visitors can meet the designers of well designed, beautifully hand made crafts produced in small workshops and studios across East and West Sussex and the adjacent counties. Guild makers are always pleased to discuss their work or to explain any specialist techniques they use. Work can be purchased over the weekend, or a designer may be specially commissioned to make a more personal piece. The De La Warr Pavilion provides the perfect setting to showcase the creativity and craft skills of the Guild. Built in 1935 in the new style of architecture named Modernism and restored in 2005 it now presents a rolling programme of art exhibitions and concerts as well as having a well curated shop and a spacious café overlooking the beach.
The bright and stylish Café Bar and Kitchen use fresh, seasonal ingredients, locally sourced where possible, for delicious lunches, sandwiches and cakes. There’s a great range of wines, boutique beers, soft drinks, speciality teas and coffees. Weather permitting, food and drink may be enjoyed on the balconies whilst overlooking the sea.
A wide beach and a seafront promenade dotted with play sculptures and water features make Bexhill a relaxing place to unwind. The historic Colonnade lies just below the Pavilion, while just across the road is the town with its many teashops and independent businesses.
