About this Event
The Surrey County Pauper Lunatic Asylum, The Wandsworth Asylum, Springfield War Hospital, Springfield Mental Hospital and now simply "The 1840", are the various names that have been applied to this fascinating historical location in Wandsworth, South London. Before development begins later this year, we have a rare chance to explore this former Victorian hospital from cellars to rooftops, learn the stories of it's most famous inmates and staff, see artifacts and archival materials discovered on site and find out the fascinating history of this grand and sprawling former psychiatric hospital. We only have a brief window of opportunity for access, so don't miss your chance!
