In our own solar system, Mars keeps tantalising us with the prospect that it once harboured life. Professor Davison is perhaps the world’s most prominent theological writer on life beyond Earth. In this lecture, he will give us a tour of the science, talk about the surprisingly long history of Christian writing on the topic, and discuss some of the ways in which thinking about astrobiology gives us fresh angles on ancient Christian themes. The Revd Prof Andrew Davison is currently the Starbridge Professor of Theology and Natural Sciences in the University of Cambridge. From September 2024, he will be the new Regius Professor of Divinity at Oxford. His many books include Astrobiology and Christian Doctrine (2023).
Mars will be available to view before the event, between 6:30pm and 6:45pm. Please note that this event is after hours and, entry after 6:40pm does not guarantee entry to see Mars.
