Join us for a focused discussion of the United States Supreme Court with Joseph Hartman of Georgetown University. We’ll cover key decisions from the 2024-2025 term and preview of some of the high-profile cases set for argument on the Court’s upcoming docket. We will discuss the Court’s current significance, review key decisions from the Court’s recent terms, and look ahead to the cases looming on the horizon as the Nine take the bench for the new term.

As polarization continues, the United States Supreme Court plays a central role not only in American law, but also in American politics, perhaps fulfilling the prophecy of that peerless observer of American life, Alexis de Tocqueville, that “scarcely any political question arises in the United States that is not resolved, sooner or later, into a judicial question.”

A complimentary beverage (glass of wine, beer or coffee) is included in the ticket price.

Tuesday,October 21 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Den Coffeehouse

Giles Professor of the Practice in Constitutional Law in the Department of Government at Georgetown University, where he also serves as the Department’s Director of Undergraduate Studies and the Director of the Georgetown Summer Institute in Law and Practice. Prior to his time in the academy he spent more than a decade as a litigation attorney in private practice with a large law firm in Washington, D.C.
