After great feedback from this seminar, it is being offered again for those who could not make the dates of the last course. This experiential seminar will be specifically focussed for those who work with children and young people (parents, caregivers, counsellors, social workers, teachers, youth workers, etc)
At times when we are faced with overwheming issues in our work, we often feel the need to go searching for big and serious
answers. This can sometimes mean that we overlook the most powerful, instinctive and healing of
all - the superpower of play!
In this seminar we will take a look at the following:-
What exactly is real play and how might we invite it and introduce it?
What role does play have in recovery from trauma and emotional wellbeing?
What can get in the way of our play and playfulness, as adults, and how might be find it again?
What might this play look like when we are working therapeutically with a child/young person ( and adults too)
This seminar is based on Dr Gordon Neufeld's attachment, developmental science approach and will be presented by
Sandy Hitchens.
Sandy is a counsellor and supervisor who specialises in working with children and/or their
parents currently in her private practice and in primary schools in Christchurch. Her past counselling experience involves high school counselling, Pegasus health contracts and lecturing in counselling training institutes. She is also a faculty member of the Neufeld Institute where she is passionate about teaching courses and presenting seminars for professionals and parents from an attachment, developmental science approach.
