Sunny Wilkinson, daughter of a Methodist minister, began her musical journey in church and earned a degree in Choral Education from Arizona State University, exploring various musical genres. She spent 15 years in Los Angeles as a jazz artist, session singer, and performer, contributing to "Saved By the Bell" and singing with "Solid Gold."Her debut CD, Alegria (1989), produced by Stix Hooper, was followed by other notable releases like a live recording for Honda of Japan and a self-titled album in 1993. Moving to Michigan, Sunny co-founded "Sisters In Jazz," a mentoring program for young female jazz musicians.
Sunny has performed with The Count Basie Band, Mark Murphy, and Ron Carter, among others. She has also been a dedicated jazz educator, teaching at Michigan State University, Western Michigan University, and more. Her contributions to jazz and education have left a lasting impact on the jazz community.
