Welcome To the Summit Friends!From this point forward, we will complete each Summit Season with a huge celebration of our local songwriters. This celebration is titled The Summit Songwriter Festival! Please make plans to join your community for the celebration!
The event will include a songwriting contest in two categories. Songwriters that are 16 and under will compete, and songwriters that are 17 and over will compete.
JUDGES: Terry Ware, TZ Wright, Felix Linden, Jarvix, Sarah Reid, and Janice Francis Smith
How to enter:
• Each songwriter may enter up to 2 songs into the competition.
• Each song requires proof of at least a 25.00 donation to the local non-profit of your choice! So, if you enter 2 songs, you will need to donate at least 50.00 to the non-profit(s) of your choice. Please message me directly with your donation receipt to enter.
• 10 slots are guaranteed for each division.
• Additional slots are available on a first come first served basis up to a total of 36 songs.
• Songs must be performed live by the songwriter or a musician that will represent the songwriter’s vision, and that is the reason for the song limitation. We have to fit all the songs into the time we have to work with!
Prizes
• The very fine people at Opolis Productions have offered complementary time in their studio to professionally record each of the winning songs in a way that represents the vision of the songwriter.
• A plaque celebrating your accomplishments.
• Immortalized by having Name and Year of victory listed on future winner’s plaques.
• The winning songwriters will receive the opportunity to raise additional funds for their chosen cause by being a feature for a future Summit.
• Still seeking sponsors to increase the prize package. Just getting started!

Scoring Criteria:
Each category is worth up to 5 points. All scores are combined for each judges total score. Then all cards are combined for the total overall score.

Musicality: Does it make me move or feel feelings with the music alone? Is it musically interesting? Does it imprint on people and get stuck in their heads?
Lyrical Impact: Unique play of words, storytelling, emotional connection potential, etc.
Composition: Does the song structure accomplish the goal of the songwriter? Is there room to improve how things are fitting together?
Originality: Does the song follow predictable and overused patterns, or is the song truly unique?
Umami: I think there should be a way to reward the creativity that may exist outside of the other categories. Does it give me chills? Do I need a moment to recover after the song? etc
