The Summer Celtic Classic-Beer Mile! Sat, June 7 @ 2:01pm. Think kilts, Scots, Irish, Welsh, bagpipes, Robert The Bruce, Boudicca, tossing the caber, etc, etc. Be there Saturday 6/7/24 at Springfield Brewing Co's brewery warehouse door on McDaniel Street.
Race start time is 2:01pm.
$15+tax entry fee for when you pre-register before the day of the race. (Link to follow.)
$20+ tax at the door on the day of the race. Must be of age and sign a full waiver.
Registration will open at 1:30pm day of, and will end at 1:50 for the pre-race briefing at 1:55.
The Beer Mile starts and ends at SBC's Brewery Door on the northside of the building on McDaniel Street. Look for the beer tent!
RULES:
1. 4 laps around SBC. A full 12oz can of 417 Lager (5.0% ABV) BEFORE each lap. The start and finish line will be at the garage door of SBC.
2. Beer must be consumed before the lap is begun, within the transition area which is the 10 meter zone before the start/finish line on the ¼ mile loop.
3. No specialized cans or bottles may be used.
4. Each beer can must not be opened until the competitor enters the transition zone on each lap. Beer cans must not be tampered with in any manner.
5. Competitors who vomit before they finish the race must complete one penalty lap at the end of the race. Vomiting in front of any SBC window, where a patron could see you, results in immediate disqualification and public humiliation commensurate with the horror of what you just did.
6. Tip the empty beer can over your head at the end of a chug to verify an empty vessel.
7. There are no participation medals. Unless you win something described in Number 8, below - your prize is the 4 beers you just drank.
8. There will also actually be prizes (a 6 pack – yes, you will win more beer - congrats) for the podium finishers (male and female), the Dead-Ass-Last competitor, and for the Best costumes (male and female).
