Throughout December and January, NELCWIT will be collecting anonymous notes from survivors and direct service staff filled with things that feel too heavy to carry; things that are easier to leave at NELCWIT rather than bringing along with us in our daily lives. These anonymous notes will be collected until our event on January 24th, where we will be burning them while reading words of strength (also collected from community members throughout the month) and hearing from talented musicians who will lead us in song. Join NELCWIT in this shared gesture of release and renewal. Together, we’ll reaffirm that we are never alone in what we carry. This is a space for reflection, connection, and solidarity—an opportunity to unburden ourselves and rise stronger, together.
The fire will start at 5:30pm, but please feel free to arrive at 5pm to add your own heavy things to the collection. Or, collect your own notes in envelopes throughout the month and bring them with you, along with your words of strength to share with our gathering!
All parts of this gathering are optional and we invite you to participate to your comfort level. There will be hot chocolate and light snacks, and children are welcome!
