Bio:

Chef Jamela Bilal is an African American Muslim Woman from Philadelphia. Her formal training is in Elementary Education and Graphic Design/Marketing, but she always yearned for more. In 2008 she was hired by a local Chef to develop their brand and marketing strategy for a new restaurant. While developing their brand, Jamela was exposed to professional cooking, and a passion emerged. She had been creatively cooking for her oldest son with food allergies, but the exposure to professional food preparation awakened a spark within her. Chef Jamela honed her talent as a chef working with professional chefs in the area until she eventually branched off on her own. She currently owns a full-service catering/meal prep company and teaches Culinary Arts to children.
