📣This festival will showcase the vibrant and diverse Latino & Hispanic cultures through delicious food, lively music, and plenty of fun activities.
This year, we are planning to do a few special things as part of our “Celebrating Freedom and Honoring the Brave” theme. We are partnering with area Special Forces Group, via their Public Affairs Officer (PAO). Their participation will likely include a military Honor Guard, a section for them to set up an information and display tent, and other ideas brought up by the PAO.
During the event, we will have a special segment to “Thank and Honor” the military personnel in general.
📣This year’s exciting additions: We’re bringing even more MUSIC from various local bands in our region PLUS fun new activities such as the Chancla Olympics and the always-popular Grito Contest. Curious about what these are? Let us explain:
🩴Chancla Olympics: A fun, competitive event where participants throw their sandals (chanclas) at a target—think of it as a boomerang with a twist! It’s a cultural thing! We were raised with when our mother’s threaten our lives with the forever fear of getting a chancla thrown at.. Um you get the gist.
🎺Grito Contest: A proud Mexican tradition celebrating Mexico’s independence from Spain. Participants will compete to see who can deliver the most powerful and spirited "Grito"—a shout that marks this festive occasion!
📣As the event continues to grow year after year, we are excited to see the ever-increasing demand for cultural celebrations in our area. This is your chance to join the community, embrace our cultural heritage, and have a blast with your family and friends.
