Michael Martin Shea & Rodney Jones will read their poems at Saturn Bar on Saturday, May 11th @ 6:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and is supported in part by http://litwire.org/Michael Martin Shea is the author of multiple chapbooks of poetry and hybrid prose, including most recently To Hell With Good Intentions (Beautiful Days Press). He is also the translator of the Argentine poet Liliana Ponce, and has published two bilingual chapbooks of her work. His poems and translations have appeared in Colorado Review, Conjunctions, Denver Quarterly, Fence, jubilat, New England Review, Poetry, TYPO, and elsewhere. He is a doctoral candidate in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory at the University of Pennsylvania and lives in Lafayette, LA.
One of the most honored poets of his generation, Rodney Jones has been praised for his narrative and lyrical skills, as well as the empathy, intelligence, accessibility, and original humor of his work. He is the author of eleven poetry books, including Salvation Blues, winner of the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award, and Elegy for the Southern Drawl, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. In 2016, he became the second poet to be inducted into the Alabama Writers Hall of Fame.
