THE SPELLBOUND SYNTH SPECIAL – SAT 16 AUG!
Spellbound is Brighton's biggest and best-loved Alternative 80s night, and the annual SPELLBOUND SYNTH SPECIAL has become one of the club's most popular events. As you might expect, advanc3 t!ck3t5 have already 50ld 0ut, but don't worry if you missed out, because YOU CAN STILL PAY AT THE DOOR! (Just turn up to Komedia with £7 cash, and we'll get you in.)
For six (yes, six!) bleeptastic hours, DJs SIMON PRICE (Stay Beautiful) & JAYNEY BLAMBLAM (Total Blam Blam) will be honouring all those pioneers who prodded Korgs, Rolands, Moogs, Fairlights, Casios and Yamahas through the 1980s. Every record you hear, all night, will either be entirely electronic or prominently feature synthesizers and drum machines.

When advance tickets have sold out (as they now have for this month), we do hold some back for walk-ups on the night. (Please note that admission on the door is CASH ONLY. There is a cash machine at Tesco on Jubilee St and HSBC at the corner of Bond St and North St.)
CHEAP SNAKEBITE & BLACK!
Anyone who’s an authentic first-generation 80s relic - or anyone who’s met one and heard their frontline stories from the Goth Wars - will know that the definitive drink for alternative 80s types was ‘SNAKEBITE & BLACK’ (that is, a pint glass containing half cider, half lager and a dash of blackcurrant to send it a lurid shade of purply-red). The lovely people at Komedia have agreed to sell pints of Snakebite & Black for the tempting price of just £4.00, exclusively for Spellbound.
THE UNDERPANTS SONG!
If that wasn’t already generous enough, every month you’ll have the chance to win a FREE SHOT of Cherry Sourz! Listen out for The Underpants Song - in other words, “Underpass” by John Foxx - because every time the former Ultravox man shouts “underpants!” (that’s what it sounds like, anyway) we’ll throw a pair of Y-fronts into the crowd. If you catch one of the pants, you can exchange it at the bar for your delicious sugary shot.
YES, WE HAVE A CLOAKROOM!
There is a permanently-manned cloakroom at Spellbound to put your minds at rest when you want to ditch your belongings and dance, priced at £1 per item.
